Note: The death of Robert Lee Butz on 26 Aug 2025 compared with his brother Reinholt Butz Jr's death on 5 Aug 2025 has all the earmarks of a bereavement death for Robert Lee.
Reinholt Butz Jr was born 30 Jun 1938 in Snyder, Morgan County, Colorado and died 5 Aug 2025 in Akron, Washington County, Colorado.
Reinholt was the oldest of four boys born to Reinholt Sr and Rachel Kissler. The family moved to Brush, Morgan County where his dad worked at the Carroll Ford Motor Company and his mom stayed at home and raised the four boys. Reinholt, better known as Reiny, attended school in Brush and graduated high school there.
After graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy. In 1965 he served on the destroyer USS Wiltsie (DD716) off the waters of South Viet Nam at the same time two of his brothers were stationed in country near DaNang.
After leaving the Navy, Reiny came back to Denver and worked at Rocky Flats, putting his experience around boilers and engines to good use. Reiny never married. He retired and moved to Akron where brother Bob lived.
He loved working in the yard, and his garden showed he had a green thumb. His time, besides gardening, was spent walking his dog and watching sports on TV.
His health declined and he spent his last few years at the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron where he was able to tend a small garden.
Preceding him in death was his father Reinholt Butz Sr; mother, Rachel; and brother, Jack. He is survived by brothers Robert and Jerry. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Akron Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
